Fall temperatures are in the air and the Bass fishing on Lake Seminole is heating up as the water temperatures continue to move into a downward trend, the Bass fishing will get even better! The Big Bass have been biting, we had the opportunity to catch over 10 Bass in the 8 to 10 pound range in the last couple of weeks!
As we move into October, the Bass will begin to feed heavily on Shad. Moving Baits like Spinnerbaits, Buzzbaits and Crankbaits will be productive. The key this time of year is to find the bait and the bait is Shad. One of my favorite Buzzbaits is a Nichols Reflex Buzzbait. It is a head-slammer style buzzbait that the big bass can’t resist! A longer rod with a higher speed gear ratio reel works best. I prefer a Temple Fork Outfitters 7’4” Tactical Bass series in Heavy action. This rod has a soft tip which allows you to make a long cast but has the backbone to get the Bass out of the Grass. I use this same setup for the Spinnerbait with a little slower reel, no more than a 6:3.1 gear ratio, fished along over the edges of the grass lines in the main lake.
Lake Seminole is a half a foot above full pool with both the Flint and Chattahoochee River arms of the lake with heavy stain from all the recent rains. Spring Creek remains relatively clear.
